Back in the day, about ten years ago, the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation was all the rage for a full-coverage foundation. It had a lovely texture, was easy to apply, and had a fantastic shade range- I loved it!
But then, brands started coming out with tinted moisturizers, like the Armani Neo Nude, and foundations with skincare ingredients, like the Saie Glowy Super Skin Foundation. I started moving towards the no-makeup makeup look of a natural-looking foundation!
That’s when I fell out of love with the Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation. Compared to all the natural-looking foundations on the market, it didn’t live up to them; the formula was too heavy and drying on the skin. Another factor could be that my skin was aging and needed a more hydrating foundation.
Lancome caught the moving trend and updated their classic Teint Idole Foundation with an improved version!
The New & Improved Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation
The main differences between the old and new Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundations are that the new one has skincare ingredients, a higher SPF count, more natural coverage, and the shades have been redone. Word of warning- your shadow will not be the same as it was since all the shades and their names are different now.
I haven’t tried the new version yet, but I am excited to do so! I think the old Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation was more suitable for oily skin, and the new one is better for drier and more mature skin. A proper review will come soon!
What is the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear 24H Full Coverage Foundation?
The Teint Idole Ultra Wear is supposed to last 24 hours, and I tested it out for….24 hours. This is not something I recommend; however, to test the foundation, I did it and…go ahead, continue reading to see my whole experience with it!
The foundation has full coverage without any cakey look or feel. It’s incredibly comfortable to wear and is transfer-free and smudge-free.
Teint Idole Ultra Wear Shades
Teint Idole has some excellent colors. It boasts a vast range, with Lancome recently adding new colors to the collection.
There are 45 shades, with various yellow, red, and neutral undertones. With such a vast choice, you’ll find the perfect shade for your skin.
For me, their newest additions have been fascinating. This is because the 005, the shade I have used until now, is slightly too dark, mainly because it is red-based and my skin is neutral.
Their new release brought out a new fair shade with neutral undertones. It’s the 008, and it complements my skin perfectly.
The Coverage
One of the best selling points for the Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation is that you don’t feel like you’re wearing anything; it is ultra-comfortable. This is something that most foundations aren’t successful in achieving.
The foundation has medium to full coverage and is very buildable. It feels natural on the skin and also looks like it! It’s perfect for every occasion.
When you want to dress up, apply more layers that don’t compromise the finished look. Or if you want a more natural, everyday look, you use less. I recommend applying moisturizer for dry and mature skin types because the foundation can get flakey over time.
The Finish
It has a lovely matte finish. I have combination skin, and Is the day goes on, my skin tends to get oilier. The last thing I want or need is a shiny foundation that results in a gleaming face.
What’s more is that this foundation stays matte the entire day. Yes, you heard right- there is no shine or oil the whole day. What could be better than that?
As mentioned, the foundation claims to last up to 24 hours. And I decided to test it cleverly (or not so cleverly!). It sounds gross, but the results were impressive.
Some of it came off and around my t-zone; there was a little shine, but most lasted well.
If you want to help your foundation last longer and better, a simple trick is to use a makeup primer, like the Spackle Under Makeup Primer by Laura Geller, before applying your foundation and a setting powder right after you’ve laid your foundation.
Although the Lancome Teint Idole foundation stays on nicely with a primer and setting powder, it stays even better and prevents your foundation from budging.
Who is the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation?
I love foundations that don’t cause breakouts, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t? I have sensitive skin, and many foundations cause me spots and breakouts.
However, The Lancome Teint Idole feels like a protective barrier on my skin. So, if you’re like me and have sensitive skin, this foundation will be your dream.
It also has SPF15, a must-have on every excellent foundation. It’s essential to wear sun protection even if you can’t see the sun. The sun can damage your skin even when you think it’s least likely to! You will need proper sunscreen in scorching weather and beach holidays.
My Thoughts
Lancome 24 Hour Foundation is one of the best foundations I’ve tried! The coverage can be from light to heavy because of its buildable nature, its endless color choices, and its beautiful finish. It also protects your skin from the sun, and it doesn’t cause breakouts on the skin.
The main disadvantage of this foundation is that it’s a little on the pricey side. However, the bottle does last for a long time, and that’s what you can expect from a designer brand like Lancome! It comes with 30ml, and I wear it every day.
