Why your body will thank you for eating algae raw spirulina protein balls

What is Algae

The word algae is Latin for “seaweed” and refers to simple, aquatic plants. They lack organs, such as roots, leaves, and other characteristics, that are found in plants on land. The size of algae can vary from microalgae (also called microalgae) to giant Kelp, which can reach 65 meters in length. Blue-green algae, though called algae, are actually bacteria that are often referred to as cyanobacteria.

Photosynthesis is a very efficient process for algae. The algae use light energy from the sunlight, carbon dioxide in the air, and hydrogen from water for the synthesis of proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids.

Algae was the first plant to appear on Earth 2 billion years before now. It is believed that algae is the source of oxygen in the atmosphere today. German scientists (Lindner and then Hardner) carried out extensive research on the harvesting and cultivation of Algae during both world wars.

At that time, it was well-known that algae contained a high amount of protein (60%), which was viewed as a way to prevent mass starvation. In the 1970s, Japanese scientists discovered a way to produce a form of algae that was digestible for humans (chlorella). In Japan, chlorella is now one of the most popular supplements.

Algae types and their nutritional benefits

AFAAFA is a blue-green alga that has a high nutritional value. AFA, or Aphanizomenon flos-Aquae (Latin for “invisible flowers of the water”), is grown in freshwater lakes and has been said to contain the highest level of protein as well as the most bio-available amount of Chlorophyll of all foods. AFA also includes over 64 vitamins, minerals, and micronutrients that are easily absorbed.

AFA’s high chlorophyll level makes it a great alkaliser. It is known as a brain food that aids memory and cognitive function. AFA’s brain food status can be attributed to its high concentration of neuropeptides, which strengthen neurotransmitters. AFA increases endurance, stamina, and energy. It also speeds up recovery times. AFA can also improve immunity, normalize blood glucose levels, and reduce stress.

Choose AFA products of high quality that have been well harvested. Two brands are recommended: E3AFA Capsules or Powdered Flake and Loving Earth AFA. These two are both gathered in the middle of Upper Klamath Lake, Oregon, USA. The blue-green alga is collected beneath the surface of the water, where the sunlight has less damaged the algae.

Spirulina, a blue-green microalgae, is grown in freshwater. Spirulina is known for having a high level of vegetarian protein and also for being a complete protein, meaning that it contains all essential amino acids. It’s said to have one of the highest concentrations of nutrients in any food. Spirulina contains high levels of vitamin B-12. Spirulina contains 200 mcg B-12 per 100g. B-12 is not commonly found in plant forms.

Spirulina contains a lot of phytonutrients and is an excellent source of iron for vegetarians. It can also boost your immunity. Spirulina was found to improve running performance by 30%, extending the time until exhaustion. This research was conducted by the Institute of Human Performance and Rehabilitation of Greece. Spirulina can be consumed during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to its iron content, nutrient profile, and high nutritional value.

Lifestream Bioactive capsules or New Zealand Certified Organic LifeStream Spirulina powder are both excellent products. This brand is committed to spirulina quality.

Kelp is an algae/seaweed that has a rapid growth rate. Sea kelp is eaten and used as a medicine for hundreds of years, especially in the East.

Kelp has a great nutritional profile, and it is packed with vitamins and minerals. It is a good source of B vitamins, C and E, which are both excellent antioxidants. Kelp also contains magnesium, calcium, and potassium. Kelp contains a high amount of Chlorophyll and is, therefore, an alkaline food.

Kelp is known as a rich source of Iodine. This element is vital for thyroid health. Iodine regulates thyroid hormones and, thus, metabolism and energy levels.

Try Kelp Noodles, a healthy gluten-free alternative.

It is not recommended to take high doses of Kelp. It is due in part to the high levels of Iodine. If taken in large amounts, Kelp can negatively impact thyroid function. The FDA recommends that adults consume between 150 and 200 micrograms of Iodine per day. Pregnant women should take more.

Chlorella, a microscopic alga, is known for its detoxification properties. It is also high in protein, Chlorophyll, and other nutrients. It is one of the most studied foods on the planet.

In Japan, chlorella supplements are taken more often than vitamin C in the West. More than 10,000,000 Japanese consume chlorella on a daily basis. Chlorella is a detoxifying algae that was adopted by the Japanese early on. Chlorella has a molecular structure that allows it to bind pesticides, heavy metals, and toxins and remove them from the body.

Chlorella supplements should be chosen carefully. Chlorella has a tough outer cell wall that the human body cannot break down. It is therefore important that the manufacturing process ‘cracks,’ or breaks, the cell wall to allow for better digestion and absorption. Synergy Organic Chlorella Powder uses the cracked-cell wall process. Yaeyama Paca is a tablet option. Alchemy SUPERGREENS is a superfood blend that contains high-quality Chlorella, Spirulina, and other ingredients.
