Boost your kids immunity with super foods

I love sneaking all kinds of superfoods into my toddlers diet. In fact my daughter actually loves eating super foods and often asks for them. Top of her list is bee pollen (yes it is sweet so you don't need much but it is great for immunity), goji berries and the odd spoonful of coconut oil. I also add things like chia seeds, which my daughter now calls 'magic seeds' (a rich source of plant omegas) and sesame seeds (a great source of calcium) to breakfast porridge, cereal or even to breadcrumbs when cooking  savoury dishes.

Smoothies are also a great way to get superfoods into your kids. Believe it or not many kids love green smoothies  especially if you add a date or two along with some banana to sweeten it up. If you are finding it hard to get your kids to eat their superfoods or veggies (or eat anything much at all) try adding either of these two wonderful products to their diets: Nutra Organics Super Food for Kids - Vital Veg or Berry Blast or Floardix Kinderviatl Multivitamin & Mineral Formula. They are both wonderful supplements to little ones diets.

Warm up with a nice Cuppa

I have to say my favourite product of the month has to be Sydney made T Totaler Tea. T Totaler was established by Amber Hudson; an entrepreneur at heart with a passion for tea. She has travelled to more than 30 countries in pursuit of the perfect cup. There is a wonderful range including Green Garden, Licorice Mint, Detox tea, Yogi Chai and more. I just love the packaging - all lovingly blended, packed and stamped by hand. They make such a lovely gift for any occasion. We have a broad range of yummy teas available here

Get Stuck into some Heavy Metal

No I don't mean the music, I mean the heavy metals and mercury that can accumulate in the body over time. These toxic metals are thought to trigger a number of medical conditions ranging from thyroid issues to neurological problems. Thankfully there are ways we can reduce the amount of metal and toxins in our bodies. Here are few tips:

  • Limit your consumption of large fish - i.e. tuna  (they tend to absorb more mercury)
  • Consider a visit to the dentist to remove silver coloured mercury fillings, it is said they can break down in the body over time.
  • Dose up on Chlorella - this single celled micro algae is a super detoxification food that helps the body eliminate unwanted metals and toxins.
  • Eat more coriander - a natural chelating agent
  • Have an infared Sauna
  • Eat some clay! Bentonite Clay is a powerful detoxifier as it absorbs heavy metals and other toxins in the gut.

New the Nourishing Hub this month is Australia's premium grade edible Bentonite clay. Click here for more information.

Check out one of my favourite sites this month

Every now and then you come across a site that really ticks all the boxes. This month www.nourishbaby.com.au is one that I have really taken a shine to. Nourish Baby is the brainchild of Melissa Grant - Founder and Chief Mama. The site and product offerings are a wonderful resource for pregnant, breastfeeding and postnatal women.

Nourish offers a series of online antenatal classes, breastfeeding and pregnancy exercise videos, downloadable directly from the website and compatible with smart connected devices. Traditional antenatal classes can be overwhelming – so much to remember! Nourish’s unique learning approach gives you the opportunity to learn in your own time and at your own pace, and in the comfort of your own home – ultimately promoting a better birth and early parenting experience. Watch preview videos and learn more at www.nourishbaby.com.au

Nourish Baby and PregFit have teamed up to give away Fit Mama Package worth over $100 - check it out here
