Strawberry Almond Smoothie September 14 2014 by Simone Denny

This is a great smoothie to start the day with, it's high in fibre so keeps you feeling full longer - plus it's really yummy. Also a great smoothie for anyone who is pregnant, nursing or trying to reduce cholesterol (due to the calcium, vitamin C and healthy fats).

Almonds are a wonderful source of calcium, vitamin E (acting as an antioxidant) and have the good fats that reduce cholesterol.
Strawberries contain vitamin C (also an antioxidant and great for immunity), folate (great for preggie people) and studies have strawberries can also reduce cholesterol.

  • 1 C of Strawberries (I used some I'd frozen)
  • 2 - 3 Frozen bananas
  • 1/2 C of Pesticide free almonds (or more if you like it thicker)
  • 3/4 - 1C Almond milk
  • 2 Teaspoons of mesquite powder (optional - full of magnesium)
  • 1/2 C Natural Yogurt
  • 3 - 4 Dates (optional if you like it a little sweeter)

Blend all ingredients until smooth.
