Make Me Glow Chocolate Smoothie September 14 2014 by Simone Denny
This smoothie recipe tastes so indulgent, it is hard to believe it is actually healthy! I call it my Make Me Glow Chocolate Smoothie because it has lots of wonderful nutrients to make your skin glow.
This is also a smoothie for those who say a smoothie doesn't fill them up for breakfast. This one will keep you going at least until lunch time!
The smoothie contains brazil nuts, which are full of selenium - an antioxidant mineral that protects skin cells from damage (particularly sun damage). Avocados, which are an excellent skin food, their mono-saturated fats are beneficial for skin tone and keeping the skin moisturised. Avocados also contain Omega 9, which can help to reduce skin irritation and redness. Both raw cacao and avocados (rich in vitamin E and C) are excellent antioxidant foods. Antioxidants help to fight free radicals and guard against visible signs of ageing. Vitamin C can help to maintain skins elasticity and firmness.
- 1/2 avocado
- 1 banana (I used frozen)
- 2 tablespoons of raw cacao
- 1/2 cup of brazil nuts
- 2 - 3 chopped dates (depending on your sweet preference)
- 3/4 cup of almond milk (or milk of your choice)
- Optional Extras
- 2 teaspoons of Lucuma Powder
- 2 teaspoons of Maca Powder
Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.
